Hey guys, Brian Gendron here at Nocserv. I want to talk to you a little bit about why I started this company. If you’ve ever read Simon Sinek’s "Start with Why", he stresses it’s important that you figure out why you’re doing something to be successful at it. The first of course is my excitement and energy around technology. I’m very excited about the future and what technology can do.
The other reason is a little different and it’s really about maximizing our impact on the community and so what I’ve done is I’ve set up three pillars of commitment for our company, for our culture, for our people to live by. The first of which is donating five percent of our time to community service. If you do the math that’s eight hours a week, two of which I pay and we track in our system. The other is a minimum of 10% of net income going back into philanthropic causes. And the last one is environmental sustainability, reducing our carbon footprint. That goes from carrying tablets not paper notebooks, I do not have a printer in the office, we recycle glass in Houston which you have to go way out of your way to do.
If you guys have any ideas about how I can better live out these commitments and hold us more accountable to these please let us know.
